John Taylor's  Treaty signing at Medicine Creak Lodge is defiantly more representational as it is much easier to understand what is being painted. The prospective from the artist is more familiar and sets an idea that would make the painting popular in style. The Howling Wolf edition  is more abstract and general. It posses a need for understanding. A person first looking at the Howling Wolf may not understand that a Treaty Signing is taking place or the significant s of charterers. The crayons or colored pencils are also a contributing factor of abstract the colors are not representational of the items they represent.
